Initial teacher training (ITT) at Plymouth Marjon University has a considerable history, stretching back over 180 years. We would welcome applications from candidates who wish to work on our ITT programmes and make a substantive contribution to Secondary PGCE programmes with the following experience and credentials:

Essential
• Holds UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a Masters qualification or equivalent professional experience.
• Has recent school teaching experience in secondary maths, science or English and/or in secondary ITT provision in these subjects. We will consider applications from other secondary curriculum subject specialisms.
• Has a track record of keeping up-to-date with evidence informed practice to support positive learner outcomes.
• Has experience supporting trainee teachers, for example through delivery, mentoring or other forms of working with trainee teachers.

Desirable
• Has experience of contributing to the delivery of ITT secondary QTS provision.
• Has experience of ITT curriculum and programme design.
• Has a doctorate or is enrolled currently in a doctoral degree programme.

Main responsibilities
• Preparing trainee teachers: drawing on your knowledge and teaching expertise to ensure trainees are evidence informed and ‘school-ready’.
• Teaching: designing and delivering innovative teaching sessions, fostering an inclusive environment for all and marking assignments.
• Quality Assurance of placement experiences: visiting trainees on placement, supporting school mentors and tracking trainee progress.
• Recruitment: interviewing and selecting appropriate trainees for the PGCE course and supporting recruitment events.
• Pastoral support continuing our unprecedented success in student satisfaction by providing pastoral and academic support to our trainees.
