The DVSA are continuing to strengthen security capability across the business. This role will form a part of a growing Cyber function continuing to embed and maintain an assurance and response function protecting our Services and customer data.

Our work also supports the DVSA Data Strategy which has recently been refreshed. This sets the direction for making the Agency an evidence based and data driven organisation whilst maintaining an appropriate level of security of our services and data.

You will work with the wider Security function as well as supporting Service Owners and multi-disciplinary teams to ensure that necessary monitoring and incident response plans are in place and tested regularly as well as take part in being active in exercising these plans. You will lead the SOC team and wider groups of stakeholders to test the Playbooks in place and ensure that there is an improvement lifecycle in place to support our incident response practices.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Leading, managing and co-ordinating cyber security incidents with a coordinated and Develop career pathways within DVSA and also the wider DfT Family for incident response and related roles in the Cyber Profession, including working with Data Profession colleagues.
  • Leads discussions with relevant internal Services to ensure that security monitoring needs of the service are being met and processes tested.
  • Structured approach across stakeholders.
  • Ensuring all necessary evidential steps are taken to document response actions, observations, intelligence, and any potential evidence.
  • Assess the need for (and co-ordinate) forensic activity within the overall response initiative, including managing a team, ensuring that forensic services are deployed appropriately.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement in technical controls, tooling, and processes to more effectively resolve future cyber security incidents.
  • Demonstrate leadership by providing influence, direction and guidance to staff to support the delivery of objectives.

Government Digital and Data Profession Pay Framework

This role is part of the Government Digital and Data profession and utilises an enhanced Capability–Based Pay Framework which provides access to a Digital and Data allowance.

The base pay is £54,857. In addition to this, the role includes a Digital and Data allowance of up to £25,543.

The value of allowance awarded will be based on an assessment of your skills and experience as demonstrated through the selection process.

Please note, the new Capability–Based Pay Framework came into effect on 1st August 2024.
