Our small and friendly supplies team stock over 350 items across various sizes and work hard to ensure our officers and staff members have the equipment they need to carry out their roles effectively. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting our uniform provision with a professional and customer focused tailoring service.
This is an important role in ensuring colleagues from across the organisation are equipped for duty and represent the Force to the highest standard. You will use industrial level, specialist machinery to undertake alterations and provide a bespoke service to each of our officers and staff. In a storeroom that holds over 1000 lines of stock, you’ll help colleagues of all ranks and roles.
What you’ll do
Tailoring Service Management: Responsible for the operation and delivery of the Force tailoring service, ensuring a professional and efficient service for all clothing and tailoring needs This can include ad-hoc tailoring projects, creating ribbon bars and hand stitched insignia.
Specialist Knowledge and Safety: Possess in-depth knowledge of specialist clothing and equipment to ensure staff and officers are correctly equipped, prioritizing health and safety. You will also be comfortable using the Microsoft Office suite and uniform ordering systems.
Bespoke Measuring and Fitting: Provide bespoke, one-to-one measuring and fitting services for essential items like PPE, ensuring proper fit and professional appearance in line with force policy.
Proficiency with Equipment: Highly skilled in using complex tailoring equipment and machinery, including industrial sewing machines and embroidery machines, to meet organizational needs. This will also include the routine cleaning, maintenance and safety checks.
Customer Service and Collaboration: Deliver high-level customer service, respecting individual beliefs and cultures, while collaborating with other departments to ensure timely delivery and support.
Stock Management: Carry out regular stock checks on our inventory, ensuring the OPEX corresponds with the physical stock and any discrepancies rectified.
Teamwork: Work effectively as part of the team sharing best practise, suggesting cost saving ideas and developing innovative ways of working to support the team and the wider force.
What you’ll bring
Organisation: You will be able to organise and prioritise your own workload, managing multiple work steams at the same time.
Teamwork: Work both independently and as part of a team, contributing to the team and force objectives.
Communication: Excellent communication skills both written and verbally, able to adapt your style to engage with a wide range of audiences.
Problem Solving: Resolve problems using your own initiative, with the judgment to know when escalation is necessary.
Microsoft: Experience of using Microsoft software packages.
Willing and able to Learn: You will need to be a quick learner, able t to learn how to use complex and specialist equipment and machinery. This will also include learning the inventory and being able to adjust a wide range of specialist clothing.
