Summary
Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Research Engineer to join our dynamic team.
The Senior Research & Development Engineer will be responsible for the day to day activities necessary to deliver customer projects, on time, on budget and to JRM AE high quality standards. The position will also be responsible for establishing & running JRM AE rig testing capabilities and facility.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
As Senior Research & Development Engineer you will be responsible for:
· The overall ownership and development of all rig testing facilities and equipment within JRM. This will cover full-vehicle, engine, gearbox, suspension, and component testing equipment as well as any other related equipment such as driver-in-loop (HIL) and hardware-in-loop (HIL).
· Working with the Technical Director to develop & implement the long-term strategic direction of the testing Facility, and product portfolio.
· The design, specification, build and testing of all new rig facilities within JRM AE.
· The establishment of a commercial testing capability.
· The management of the day to day budget for any new rig facility. This will require working with the Finance team to monitor all costs and benefits against budgets and forecasts.
· Supporting the resolution of issues and initiating corrective actions on a timely basis.
· Compliance with all departmental H&S requirements.
· Compliance, where appropriate with management, & environmental, systems, such as ISO 9001.
Key Skills Requirements
· Excellent Engineering & problem-solving capabilities with a good attention to detail and a practical approach.
· Significant experience of electrical rig design & development.
· Significant PLC software development experience, including PID control.
· Resource management
· Project planning & budget forecasting.
· Excellent written and spoken English.
· Engineering degree graduate, or equivalent.
Special aptitudes
· Significant experience of the following software packages essential:
· Matlab
· Mitsubishi PLC/Motion, or similar
· Catia, Solidworks or similar
· Data logging tools such as LabView, Pi Toolbox, Motec i2 pro
· Familiarity with the following software packages:
· Adams, or similar MBS tools
· A creative thinker not afraid to suggest new ways of doing things
· Flexible attitude is essential
· Willing to work additional hours to ensure tasks are completed on time
· Team player with ability to also work on own
