Summary
Boxford (Suffolk) Farms Ltd is looking for a charismatic, motivated, reliable, hardworking individual to join our team as a General Farm Worker on our Boxford site, working as part of the Top Fruit Production Team
Boxford (Suffolk) Farms is a fruit farm located on the Essex and Suffolk border in the beautiful Dedham Vale which is part of the Boxford Group. We are a growing and diverse business that produces Class 1 handpicked fruit for supermarkets such as CO-OP, Sainsbury’s and Morrison’s, which employs approximately 250 seasonal workers in our temporary work force to pick all of our crops. We grow over 100 hectares of Apples, 15 hectares of Strawberry table tops, 11 hectares of Raspberries, 10 hectares of Cherries, and 8 hectares of Blueberries. Additional to this we have an AD Plant, multiple Cold Stores and a Wood enterprise.
The department is responsible for the Top Fruit production of Boxford (Suffolk) Farms, ensuring delivery of high quality 1st class Apples, and Cherries, as well as assisting with other crops the business grows. The department is involved with implementing effective growing systems, ensuring that required harvest and husbandry operations are efficiently carried out, the delivery of timely and correct irrigation, spraying, pest and disease control, and all other elements related to the crop production.
Job Responsibilities
The successful candidate will assist with a range of duties involved in the crop production including spraying and herbiciding of the crop to a high standard, ensuring that the application of chemicals is carried out in a correct and safe manner, timely and accurate carting and delivery of fruit (and other products/machinery) between locations, mowing, shredding, and other general duties that are reasonably within the individuals capability to perform. The candidate will need to effectively communicate with other members of the team, and ensure they comply with all relevant legislation, and company policy and procedures.
Qualifications or desired skills
- Category B (Car) Driving Licence (Essential)
- Spray Qualifications- PA1 & PA2 (Desirable)
