Summary

Working Age delivers essential support to 3 million of the most vulnerable in society, whether through ESA, JSA, Maternity Allowance, Sure Start Maternity Grants, Budgeting Loans, Support for Mortgage Interest, Social Fund, and Incapacity Benefit. People depend on us to accurately deliver these primary benefits on time, which are crucial and often the only source of income for them.

We deliver these services from offices the length and breadth of the UK. Team members in different locations help to ensure that we are processing cases or answering customer queries to ensure a great customer experience. It is a fascinating, and surprisingly diverse, portfolio of support that we provide.


The Operational Senior Leader role is high profile with a mix of leading large geographical teams and heading up national product delivery, managing performance whilst developing future strategies to influence design improvements to how Working Age products are delivered. 

The post holder will need to build and maintain effective stakeholder relationships with critical partners across the wider Department including frontline staff and management, Senior Leadership, Service Planning and Delivery and Optimisation team. 

This is a key operational leadership role; supporting Working Age to deliver our business plan to put customers at the heart of the service by investing in our teams and driving up capability, improving service delivery, and contributing to the transformation of Working Age products.
