We are currently seeking dedicated Security Officers to join our dynamic Security Team. You will ensure a safe environment for staff, students and visitors on both campus and off campus buildings, by proactively engaging with students, staff and visitors, identifying and addressing vulnerabilities and responding to incidents.
(Average of 36 hours per week to cover 52.143 weeks of the year. Working a rotational shift pattern of 4 days on, 4 rest days off and 4 days on. The rotational shift includes weekdays, weekends and bank holidays. Weekdays involve 12.5 hour shifts and weekends involve 6.5 hour shifts. All shifts include an unpaid 30 minute break)
About the Role
Your role as a Security Officer will involve regular patrolling, parking enforcement, and securing both on-campus and off-campus premises. Your responsibilities will include monitoring CCTV footage, safeguarding valuables, and protecting University assets from theft, fire, and other safety concerns. You will respond to alarms, manage emergencies, assist with evacuations, and provide first aid when needed. The role also involves visitor management, supporting major events, and maintaining incident reports.
About You
You will be a skilled Security Officer with a valid SIA Door Supervisor or Guarding Licence. You will have recent experience in security roles, strong knowledge of criminal law, and the ability to handle various incidents. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential, along with good computer literacy. You must be able to organise, prioritise, and work well under pressure, demonstrating a high level of integrity, attention to detail, and a customer-focused approach. A valid UK driving licence and the ability to pass an enhanced DBS check are required. Flexibility to work outside normal hours and remain ‘on-call’ is necessary.
