Summary
Band 7 To provide a qualified paediatric clinical psychology service within the paediatric psychology team, providing specialist psychological assessment, formulation and therapy. To offer advice and consultation about children, young people and families on issues of psychological care, to colleagues from other disciplines and to other non-professional carers. To work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the teams policies and procedures. To utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and research within the area served by the team/service. The post is mainly based at the Great North Childrens Hospital but there will be outreach work into the community and other hospitals. Band 8a To take appropriate responsibility for applied psychology provision specialising in the specific service area in which this post is located and making recommendations regarding service provision. Is expected to manage the care of challenging and complex psychological presentations presenting within this part of the service. To provide a qualified applied psychology service across all sectors of care to the population; providing specialist psychological assessment, formulation and therapy. Offering advice and consultation on patients psychological care to colleagues from other disciplines and to other, non-professional carers, working autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the teams policies and procedures. To utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and research within the team/service area. To provide supervision of trainee clinical psychologists.
