We are looking for an experienced Senior Programme Manager, with a proven track record in developing, controlling, and delivering investment programmes to join our Infrastructure Monitoring (IM) team. The role will lead an exciting programme to deliver change, and long-term improvement in the IM fleet, Systems and Service Performance to our Customers. Ensuring they receive the data they need, when they need it.
What is Infrastructure Monitoring?
Our fleet of bespoke trains complete c300,000 miles annually covering the national rail network.
These specialised trains provide the mechanism to collect vital data, that is then processed and analysed to identify track compliance and inform engineers of their track condition. This data highlights sections of track that require maintenance and renewals, thus ensuring Network Rail’s infrastructure remains safe and operational.
This role will own and deliver NR’s IM Investment programme to transform the way we collect and provide data to our customers. Leading on customer engagement, strategy, sustainability, business change, and brining new innovation into the future IM service.
Who is Supply Chain Operations
Supply Chain Operations (SCO) is a multi-faceted business area that sits within Route Services. SCO provides key services to Routes and Regions, helping ensure the railway remains safe, compliant, and operational. Each year SCO:
- Is responsible for over £1billion worth of spend.
- Delivers over 3,000 engineering trains.
- Delivers over 1million miles of seasonal track treatment.
- Measures over c300,000 miles of track to identify compliance (Infrastructure Monitoring).
- Delivers over 800,000 metres of rail and 1million tonnes of ballast
Essential
• Proven industry leader with extensive experience in the development and delivery of strategies and complex infrastructure programmes
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Experience of dealing with large complex client portfolios and able to demonstrate significant commercial success
• Strong knowledge of rail industry structure, regulation and commercial framework
• Significant experience of negotiating with internal and external stakeholders at senior level to achieve project or company objectives
• Proven experience of preparing and managing complex budgets, and knowledge of the principles of investment processes and procedures
• Extensive experience in the use of rail industry technical, safety and performance standards including GRIP
• Qualified to degree level or equivalent
Desirable
• Experience in the design and integration of complex engineering and/or operational systems
• An understanding of railway safety management systems and risk assessment techniques
• MBA or other related postgraduate qualification
• Member of recognised Railway Engineering or Operations institution, or Chartered Engineer
