Summary
This will include supporting service users with everyday living tasks and activities such as:
- Assisting service users with personal care tasks and medication administration
- Supporting service users with day to day domestic activities such as housework, preparing meals, shopping etc.
- Supporting service users to manage and meet their tenancy requirements
- Assisting service users with day to day budgeting
- Supporting service users to attend medical appointments and access the local community
- Empowering service users to gain new life skills and try new activities in line with their hobbies and interests.
In addition to this, responsibilities will also include:
- Ensuring that the tenants/clients are provided with the highest standard of care at all times.
- Ensuring that all tenants/clients are enabled to fully participate in decisions affecting their lives, embracing the philosophy of person centred planning. To ensure all options are explored in an attempt to have the persons decisions / choices are met including outside activities
- Ensuring all medication is administered as prescribed when on duty
- Documenting and maintaining accurate records of support provided
- Ensuring all health and safety policies/procedures are followed at all times and that any risks or concerns are reported without delay
- Ensuring the environment is clean and tidy, and meets all health and safety requirements
- Ensuring all aspects of the management of the properties and support meet with CQC standards
- Acting up for the senior support worker across the whole range of their duties in their absence
- Assisting the Area Registered Manager with the budgetary management of the support provided on a day to day basis including any petty cash systems and residents monies by ensuring all transactions are recorded and staffing levels are as the rota dictates.
- Attending staff meeting every four weeks under the direction of your senior.
- Participating in the Companies Personal Performance Agreement, ensuring all mandatory training required for the role is completed and remains up to date
- Working in line with Amara Care’s core values to achieve positive outcomes for the service users.
- Handling of any other ad hoc tasks as required
The support worker is there to ensure all support within their area of responsibility maintains continuity throughout the week for the clients they are responsible for. The ideal candidate will need to be self-motivated and a problem solver, lead by example within the staff team ensuring all areas of support are recorded and monitored appropriately, and attend all company training as requested.
What do we need from our Support Workers?
- A desire and passion to motivate and lead by example enabling others to develop.
- A minimum Qualification of NVQ Level 2 Health & Social Care or equivalent (preferred but not essential)
- Experience of working with Adults with Learning Disabilities and Complex needs (again, desirable but not essential)
- The ability to listen and advocate for those in your care to maintain their dignity and respect at all times.
