Immediate need for two Personal Care Assistants (Male or Female) both required at the same time to provide care and support to a 14-year-old boy with autism. PAs to be able to take this boy out in the community and for overnight care in the carers’ home. Family home is in Sacriston, Durham.
20 hours (17:00-13:00) sleepover/overnight respite care once every fortnight with 2:1 carer.6 hours day respite/week during school holidays with 2:1 carer.Re Overnights - the Personal Assistants will be required to work together, taking turns to ensure cover.
£12 hourly rate and negotiable hourly rate for self employed Personal Assistants
The boy you will be supporting is nonverbal, has complex and high sensory needs but does not show aggression towards others. Both carers will be providing one on one interaction, sensory or activity stimulation, promoting OT based activities during respite time both in carers’ home and in community-based activities.
Assisting includes personal hygiene and toileting needs.Overnight care will need to be provided in support worker’s own home.
He is often a happy, affectionate, gentle youngster who enjoys tickles.Additional information:
Some experience of working with ASD children would be preferred.
A driving licence with own transport is essential.
An enhanced DBS will be required, the cost will be covered by employer.
