Summary

Are you a Nurse who is thinking of returning to practice?

We are currently able to offer clinical placements for up to six months, across a range of specialties. We can support both NMC routes for Return to Nursing Practice and the contracts will commence in January 2024. The placement will consist of a minimum of 150 clinical hours - over a minimum of 10 weeks and a maximum of 26 weeks depending on your experience. Alongside your clinical placement you will need to choose one of the following options:

Option 1.

The Return to Practice Programme at Bournemouth University prepares you for re-entry onto the NMC register. Theory is taught at the University. If you are wishing to undertake this course, then you will need to apply additionally to BU. Please visit https://www.bournemouth.ac.uk/study/courses/return-nursing-practice

Option 2.

The Test of Competence is made up of two parts – a theoretical test known as the CBT and a practical test known as the OSCE. We will support you with OSCE preparation using our simulation suite and skills stations.

Both options are funded by NHS WTE.

Returning to nursing is a big decision and one that requires structured support. At DCH we have a practice education team who will work closely with you and your Practice Assessor during your clinical practice placement.

Once you have completed your clinical placement and the requirements of the NMC for Return to Nursing Practice, DCH will support your application for a Band 5 Preceptorship post.
