About the role

The Senior Development Manager will support our growth in ICP and EV charging connections.

Leading a team of Development Managers and Tendering Engineers, this role will focus on developing clients' sites through the bidding and pre-construction phase of project development. The role has two key lines of accountability:

TENDERING

The Senior Development Manager has total accountability for ensuring that all ICP and EV Charging opportunities, including those allocated within frameworks, are accurately tendered so that they can be delivered to industry-leading time, cost and quality. It is critical to build strong relationships with our internal Project Management and Delivery colleagues to ensure sites allocated to Rock by key clients are developed into fully designed and priced projects fit for construction.

PRE-CONSTRUCTION

Through being successfully appointed onto several framework contracts, the Rock Team are allocated sites and take full responsibility as Principal Designer to survey, design, secure grid connections, seek stakeholder approval and plan the works for programme delivery.

This role is client-facing, liaising with strategic clients and the post holder will work with many internal and external stakeholders to develop designs, installation programmes and commercial models which are reflective, accurate and mitigate operations and commercial risk.

The Senior Development Manager has accountability for the start-to-end preconstruction process and ensuring that we hit milestone dates for each project across each client.

PEOPLE LEADERSHIP

Lead two critical areas of the Rock Commercial Department:

Tendering - ensuring all New Connections tenders are delivered on-time and with unwavering standards of quality

Pre-construction - managing all EV multi-site Framework clients, ensuring sites are developed from point of allocation into a full design and priced project ready for delivery

-Providing absolute clarity on strategic direction, process and objectives for the Tendering and Pre-construction Teams

-Have an overarching view to ensure all sites across all client portfolios managed by the EV Development Managers will hit the milestone dates to achieve the Rock business plan.

-Drive high accountability and performance into area of direct responsibility through coaching and development of line reports



PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT



-Alongside managing the EV Development Managers, this role will involve taking on a portfolio of projects with a strategic client.

-Manage a portfolio of allocated sites through the pre-construction phase, keeping an accurate log of the current status of each site.

-Coordinate the survey process, ensuring the information is collated, reviewed and any findings fed into the Tender & Design team.

-Liaise with the client and the Tender & Design team to produce initial site layouts for sign off from the client. Oversee the iterative change process to finalise the layout.

-Coordinate the full design stage, including lease plan drawings and construction drawings as required to meet the client's specifications.

-Where required, obtain grid connection offers from the DNO. Review grid connection offers provided by the client and liaise with the DNO over likely installation timescales, alternative options and reinforcement works. Challenge the DNO where appropriate to secure the best connection option for the client.

-Secure grid connection agreements (or modifications) aligned with the project strategy.

-Develop and manage the programme with key strategic clients through initially indicative Programme of Works.

-Liaise with our Civils Manager and external civils subcontractor to understand Traffic Management, CDM and Council requirements.

-Work with the Tender & Design team, the Commercial Manager and the EV Charging Director Connections to prepare commercial models for each site.

-Liaise with the client to get the commercial model approved.

-Work with the Programme Director to make strategic procurement decisions for long lead-time items.

-Maintain DNO and IDNO design and commercial relationship management for the projects

-Create a contract delivery plan for the Project Team

-Contract manage the overall delivery plan and high level operational relationship.

GENERAL

-Support the Business Development Team by identifying and introducing new client opportunities

-Delivery, delivering exceptional client satisfaction throughout

-Understand and apply DNO G81 design standards

-To promote and demonstrate a culture of Health Safety & Quality at alltimes

-Keep up to date on current legislation & regulations

-Line Manage the EVC Development Managers.

-Working with other members of the team to resolve any client or project difficulties.
