Summary


We are seeking to appoint a dynamic and enthusiastic candidate to the role of Ward Manager for our Paediatric Assessment Unit.

The postholder will join a multi-professional team working collaboratively with the Paediatric Emergency Department and T2 Rainbow Ward teams to ensure optimal flow within the service, providing an ambulatory service to babies, children, and young people. In times of high demand or acuity, the department may convert to accepting inpatient admissions.



The post holder will be expected to lead and manage the development and provision of a high-quality nursing service and environment for all babies, children, & young people that attend our Paediatric Assessment unit:
• To provide specialist nursing knowledge, expertise, and advice, facilitating the provision of evidence-based patient-centred care pathways and packages.
• To ensure that resources are efficiently and effectively managed to deliver a high-quality service.
• To work closely with Paediatricians, multi-disciplinary teams, other clinical leaders, and managers to provide a high-quality, cost-effective, patient-focused service.
• To work in conjunction with ward managers within the paediatric service to support and manage service needs in their absence
• To be a visible and credible role model who effectively uses resources and support mechanisms demonstrates a balance between clinical and managerial demands.
• To manage the ward team to ensure care is delivered according to the objectives of the Trust's corporate agenda.
• They will be accountable for the development and performance management of all nursing staff in their workforce to enable safe patient care delivery and promote patient experience in the department. They will deputise for the paediatric Matron as necessary.
