We are seeking a Senior Category Manager to be responsible for driving category strategies that deliver cost-effective solutions and foster strong supplier relationships, all while collaborating with senior stakeholders to meet key business objectives.

The ideal candidate will have proven experience in team and line management, with expertise in developing and implementing commercial and category strategies. Strong stakeholder management skills and extensive procurement experience in infrastructure or construction environments, including familiarity with NEC 3/4 contracts, are essential.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and implement robust category strategies, managing the supplier base to ensure competition and drive cost-effective solutions. Maintain and manage a Preferred Supplier List (PSL) and drive business intelligence through market analysis and benchmarking.
Lead the end-to-end RFx process, including supplier evaluations, negotiations, and contract management. Identify and develop alternative solutions to optimise costs across the product and service lifecycle.
Manage suppliers based on performance, quality, and risk using the organisation’s Supplier Relationship Management Framework. Proactively mitigate risks and develop supplier strategies within assigned categories.
Lead and manage a team to ensure the delivery of key supply chain targets. Drive performance management, resource allocation, and team development to achieve business goals.
Collaborate with senior and executive stakeholders, securing their involvement in category strategies and sourcing activities. Proactively promote the value of Supply Chain Management (SCM) and resolve potential issues while adding value.



Essential Criteria:

Proven experience in team and line management, leading high-performing units.
Expertise in commercial and category strategy development and implementation.
Strong stakeholder management skills, with a track record of building effective relationships.
Extensive end-to-end and post-contract procurement experience within an infrastructure or construction environment, including a deep understanding of NEC 3/4 contracts.
