Night Nurse (RGN)

Full-time (4 nights per week)
£23 per hour plus paid breaks


** £2,000 welcome bonus **

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Night Nurse to join our client's team and provide exceptional care to our elderly residents in their nursing home. As a Night Nurse, you will be responsible for overseeing the well-being of the residents during night shifts, ensuring their comfort and addressing any medical needs that may arise, including general nursing, respite, palliative, and dementia care. The home is currently working towards the Gold Standards Framework.

Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse qualification (RGN) and valid UK NMC Pin
  • Experience in elderly care or nursing home settings, with a focus on palliative / end of life care.
  • Proficiency in developing and implementing care plans
  • Strong medication administration skills, including the specialized requirements for palliative and dementia care
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, particularly important when providing support for families of residents with dementia or palliative care needs
  • Ability to remain calm and focused in high-pressure situations, especially during palliative care and in emergency situations related to dementia care

Responsibilities
  • Conducting regular rounds to monitor the health and safety of elderly residents throughout the night
  • Administering medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians, including those for palliative and dementia care
  • Documenting residents' medical histories and maintaining accurate and up-to-date care plans, particularly for those with dementia needs
  • Responding to medical emergencies and providing immediate care and support, with a focus on palliative care and dementia support
  • Collaborating with the daytime nursing staff to ensure continuity of care, especially for residents with complex needs
  • Communicating effectively with residents and their families to address any concerns or provide updates on their condition, with empathy and understanding for those in need of palliative or dementia care
  • Adhering to all relevant regulations and best practices in elder care and nursing, particularly those related to dementia care and palliative support
