The aim of this new post is to improve the care of SACT patients who attend the SACT unit and are assessed as being unwell either due to complications of cancer diagnosis and or its treatment. The post holder will manage the SACT patient telephone helpline during working hours using the UKONS triage tool. The post holder will provide specialist, high quality, expert nursing care and support for patients and their carers. You will deliver evidence based individualised patient care according to patient’s changing health care needs. You will be required to work autonomously and developing collaborative relationships with others across and within professional boundaries.



You will work autonomously assessing and triaging patients on the unit ensuring this reflects the core components of the Clinical Nurse Specialist role, which involves high level of clinical decision making and clinical practice.

You will safely administer Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatment (SACT), practicing within local and national policies and always acting as a positive role model.

The post holder will take charge of the day unit in the absence of the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse as required and will participate in all relevant aspects of the governance process. You will always adhere to the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and ensure compliance with the hospital policies and procedures.
