Hours per week: 37 Monday - Friday, 08:30 - 16:30

Role Length: This opening assignment is for 3 months

Deliver employability training related to the delivery of the Councils ‘Building Block’ scheme. Funded by the Governments ‘Construction Skills Fund’ and working in partnership with Sheffield Housing Company, Keepmoat Homes, Engie, Job Centre Plus and other stakeholders this project provides onsite training to individuals looking to gain employment within the Construction sector. 55% of course completers are currently moving into sustained Construction employment and with the opening of a new onsite training facility in S2 we are looking to add another tutor to the existing two tutors working on the scheme. Specifically this role will support in delivering employability training alongside health and safety within a classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Support in the delivery of training to meet contractual and funding body requirements related to the Councils ‘Building Block’ scheme.
Support in the delivery of employability and site safety training across two sites within S2 (Construction Design Centre and Building Block Cabin).
Assist the Senior Project Officer in delivery and design of the programme.
Carry out all necessary administration of the programmes as required by the funding body, ensuring that all requirements are fully met.
Work within and adhere to the Quality Procedures of Life Long learning and Skills
Support cohorts of circa 20 learners becoming ‘Employment Site Ready’ every two weeks.
Work with the Senior Project Officer and Programme Co-Ordinator to ensure that facilities and resources and adequate, properly maintained and operated
Assist the Senior Project Officer with audits and inspections carried out by internal and external bodies.
Undertake any other duties and responsibilities, which do not change the character and purpose of the post, as may be determined after negotiations between manager, the post holder and appropriate Trade Union.

Qualifications:

Hold relevant vocational qualifications e.g. BTEC, NVQ3

Knowledge:

A good knowledge of equal opportunities and the ability to apply these to practices
A good understanding of safe working practices

Experience:

Have recent vocational experience
Experience in liaising with employers

Skills & Abilities:

Good oral and written skills
Ability to maintain quality systems
Ability to undertake new tasks and develop new initiatives
Ability to work with a varied client group in terms of age/ability/gender/ethnicity/and social background
Be able to exercise discretion in the dissemination of information relating both to trainees and the programme
Ability to maintain up to update accurate progress, training and assessment records
Ability to carry out effective initial assessment of individuals producing realistic, achievable training plans
Ability to adopt appropriate standards of language and behaviour, especially when in the company of trainees
Be able to recognise changes and trends in their area, training generally and training techniques
Ability to deliver key skills
