Summary


The lung function and sleep diagnostics departments at City and QMC site are rapidly developing.

Do you have an interest working in a healthcare environment performing respiratory and basic sleep related diagnostic tests with patients? We are looking for a candidate to work within the respiratory assistant technical officer team based over both City and QMC lung function and sleep units

you will be working in the busy diagnostic lung function and sleep services unit at City or QMC campus where all training is performed in-house to deliver a range of respiratory related breathing tests including the collection and analysis of blood samples. In addition to basic sleep investigations.
You will perform some administrative duties related to your clinical role
You will be expected to study for and pass nationally recognised courses in Spirometry and capillary blood gas collection and analysis during the 1st 12 months of recruitment.


You will be working with the general public both face to face and on the telephone as part of a team and independently and you may be on your feet for a long period of the day therefore a basic level of fitness is essential.
There is an expectation that dependent on the service needs, you would be able to work across the main sites within Nottingham University Hospitals of City Hospital and Queens Medical Centre

See attached job description; to be part of a team of physiologists performing a range of basic routine and more complex respiratory and sleep physiological measurements to appropriate standards and in accordance with local and national guidelines.
To perform basic administrative paperwork (some is hand written so legible / neat hand writing is essential). During employment the post holder will be supervised whilst training until proven competent to practice. All relevant mandatory training is provided.

As part of the interview process you will be asked to perform a short presentation, the title of which will be given to if you are successfully shortlisted.

You would join a team of established physiologists based at City and QMC campus's lung function and sleep unit as well as working along side other respiratory and sleep health care scientists. Team working and supporting each other to complete the high volume daily clinical workload is essential and the new candidates must demonstrate awareness of the skills needed for team working at interview.

If you possess a good general level of education to GCSE / O level standard then this role will expand on that underpinning knowledge but also give you a clearly defined career path in respiratory diagnostics with the possibility of career progression for the right candidates.
