Do you have a passion for mental health care?
Do you have creative skills which you can use to engage patients in an older adults mental health ward?
If so, there is an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as an Activity coordinator to work alongside the Occupational Therapist, Nurses, MDT, Matron and Consultant Psychiatrist on Kershaw Ward at St. Charles Hospital.
Previous applicants need not apply.
We are looking for a person who can use their own creative skills alongside our resources (art and craft materials, food, gardening, music, exercise, reminiscence and other resources, to engage patients and support them on their recovery journey. The aim of the role is to provide interventions, using recovery principles, in order to improve the service users’ quality of life and to support them to do the things they want to do and live the life they want to lead. The post holder will receive regular supervision by an Occupational Therapist and opportunities for training through CNWL Learning and Development and the Recovery and Wellbeing College. Staff are also encouraged to develop their skills through reflection and learning.
The post is based on Kershaw Ward (female and male ward) for patients who are experiencing both functional and organic mental health needs. The role includes facilitating a programme of social, creative and therapeutic activities to both individuals and groups which promotes social inclusion for service users. Activities take place on the ward and in the local community.
