Vacancy Ref: 153991
Salary: UoG Grade 5, £25,138 - £29,605 per annum.
This post is full time and has funding for up to 12 months from the start date in first instance.
We have an opportunity for a Technician to provide in-depth technical expertise for creating inducible gene knockouts in human malaria parasites (Plasmodium falciparum) and provide advice on the set up and best operation of equipment and procedures to aid delivery objectives.
This post is based within the School of Infection and Immunity and the post holder will be working under the supervision of Dr Abhinay Ramaprasad (Principal Investigator) whose main research focus is to study genes that control parasite replication within red blood cells, a critical process that enables malaria parasites to multiply and progress through the clinically significant blood-stage infection.
The postholder will use state-of-the-art gene-editing technologies such as CRISPR-Cas9 and DiCre to inducibly knock out essential genes in the parasite.
Informal Enquiries should be directed to Abhinay Ramaprasad, abhinay.ramaprasad@glasgow.ac.uk
