Summary

PRINCIPAL DUTIES On the basis of an in-depth understanding of the variables associated with each Care Croup and directorate and the strategies of the Trust, ensure that the team of professional accountants that report to this role is positioned to deliver maximum impact for the benefit of the Trust overall. Responsible for the consolidation of monthly management reporting for the Trust, including forecasts and variance analysis to ensure a thorough understanding of the historic and forecast results for the organisation and the actions needed to achieve that forecast. To provide commercial and financial support to the Estates Director and other corporate directors in achieving the Annual Plan objectives by facilitating good financial management throughout the directorate and the application of complete, robust and effective internal controls. To provide commercial and financial support to the directors of HFMS Limited in achieving the budget for that organisation. To include periodic management reporting, budgeting and forecasting. Responsible for the coordination and running of the quarterly forecast process for the organisation, working with Care Group Directors of Finance and the Deputy Director of Finance. Responsible for coordination and running of the annual budget process for the organisation, working with Care Group Directors of Finance and the Deputy Director of Finance to deliver a budget within an agreed budget envelope that is constructed on a care group by care group basis. Responsible for coordination and submission of the annual financial plan and other requests as and when requested by NHS Improvement. Responsible for coordination of the monthly Performance Reports following agreement of outturn figures compared to control total with the Director of Finance and Deputy Director of Finance Central Finance. Responsible for coordinating ledger closure and releasing the figures. Responsible for coordination of the monthly Director of Finance Report and other related reports. Responsible for coordination and submission of monthly returns and other related returns as and when requested by NHS Improvement. Responsible for review and approval of Monthly Performance Reports for Central Finance. Responsible for the operation of the information systems necessary to generate, collate and support periodic financial management reporting for the organisation. To include: Monthly financial reporting of the Statement of Comprehensive Income consolidating the results of all parts of the organisation that have to be reported in the annual accounts. Systems to manage the annual budgeting process Provide clear financial leadership support for R&D team, as well as quarterly charitable reporting required to raise timely invoices from charitable funds. Provide clear information and informal coaching +/or formal training courses to enhance the level of financial awareness and management skills throughout the organisation. Provide clear financial leadership support for Income team, as well as supporting the monthly commissioning reports that include activity, drugs, and devices. Manage a team of staff, including qualified staff, staff studying for CCAB/CIMA qualifications and other support staff. To be responsible for the day-to-day management of team members and also their short-, medium- and long-term development, through the use of informal and formal methods of support, including PDPs and regular reviews. Ad hoc financial management work as requested by the Deputy Director of Finance Performance.
