Summary


Band 2 Health care Assistant required for the Paediatric Unit at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals

You will have the opportunity to work within the Paediatric Unit covering all areas of the Paediatric unit including children's ward, children's assessment unit, children's' surgery unit and children's outpatients.

Flexibility is an absolute must with this role. The shift pattern includes nights, weekends, long and short shifts. This post also includes working weekends and bank holidays.

The post holder must have experience with children and their families and also have experience working as a health care assistant in an acute setting.

The post will be permanent Band 2,

You will support the Nursing team on the Paediatric Unit by assisting in patient cares

Undertake basic administrative duties, answering telephones, using I.T systems.

Communicating and supporting children and their families

Ensuring privacy and dignity is maintained for patients at all times

Ensure trust standards are met

Maintain confidentiality

Work within own competence

Work flexibly to meet the needs of the service .

The post holder assists member of the multidisciplinary team to provide efficient, effective research based nursing care that meets the needs of children and families under the care of the Child Health Directorate. In line and according to agreed Trust Policies/Procedures and under the direction of the registered Nurse the post holder works as an integral part of the Nursing team. Communicating and liaising with all members of the team is essential. According to own experience and competency provide support and possible training for junior / less experienced staff or students within the area. The post holder may be invited /required to participate in meetings and be involved in the action plans. In consultation with the registered Nurse, the post holder will need to recognize and discuss developmental/educational needs for self. Internal rotation is a requirement of this post.
