Summary
This is a temporary contract starting as soon as possible, for 1 - 2 days per week (hours to be agreed).
The Driver's Mate plays a crucial part in delivering the objectives of St Paul’s Centre. The post holder supports the Driver as banksman and in collecting and delivering goods, and in the collection and disposing of waste. They will exercise excellent customer service skills with the public in general and with other partner organisations.
Mates responsibilities - Health and Safety
• Work under the direction of the Driver when undertaking duties
• Maintain H&S standards e.g. the wearing of PPE (boots and high vis vests)
• Clean and tidy van ready for the next shift
• Ensure that manual handling guidelines are followed
Mates responsibilities - Other
• Act as Banksman on journeys
• Go out with van crews to help collect and deliver items of furniture and bulky waste
• Help to unload the van at required location
• Help with waste and scrap recycling
• Use a professional manner in dealing with customers/members of the public
• Place all collected goods in designated warehouse spaces
• Maintain a high standard of professionalism with regard to the confidentiality of internal and external customers at all times
• Contribute to the maintenance of Health & Safety in the workplace
• Contribute to the security of the workplace
• Work in complete accordance with the aims and goals of the Trust
This role will mainly be as Driver's Mate but there may also be a requirement to act as Driver from time to time. The post holder will therefore need a full driving licence (Category B).
You may also be required to undertake a range of none driving tasks ( eg. occasional maintenance and warehouse duties) as required
