The Opportunity

The Investment Management Team (IMT), part of the Business Planning & Performance group within our client, are looking for a forward-thinking, pro-active individual to join the team.

The IMT form a key element of the assurance and approvals process covering the multi-million pound Investment portfolio for the our clients Nuclear Operations business, including Nuclear Decommissioning (ND), which involves ensuring that the investments follow the right processes and secure the appropriate approvals to commence work. We provide advice, guidance, challenge, and insights to the business and administer the Investment Management and Sanctioning system (IMS2), our own bespoke IT system.

The successful candidate will work closely with a number of stakeholders and teams from across the business, so strong networking and stakeholder management skills are a must. This role is pivotal to enable continuous improvement and organisational learning across the Project community and to the wider business. The Role

In this role, the successful candidate will be expected to raise challenges, share good practice, and provide input into planning, review and approval meetings as required. They will also be required to carry out analysis to help understand process performance, engagement levels and effectiveness of simplifications to ensure that we shape the way for future success.

The IMT Officer role will be responsible for:

  • Analysis of project papers to ensure they are of expected quality, capturing and sharing learning with relevant stakeholders and promoting organisational learning.
  • Monitoring of process adherence across the fleet, providing insight into local and fleet levels of performance. Highlighting and resolving gaps, escalating where required.
  • Coordinating and attending local/central Project Review Committees (PRCs) and Investment Approval Boards (IAB) as secretariat, to capture an accurate record of decisions made, as well as providing challenge, analysis and identifying continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Ensuring data and systems are aligned, through proactive administration of IMS2. This will include input to system upgrades, improvements and ad-hoc changes as required.
  • Collaborating on the review and maintenance of the Project Delivery Process (PDP) including associated documentation, updates, and amendments.
  • Supporting the Investment Planning process, including providing guidance and coaching on the use of the Investment Planning application.
  • Leading and supporting communications of Investment Management updates, changes, and initiatives.
  • Providing guidance, coaching and oversight to stakeholders from across the business in the Investment Management processes and systems, including sharing of best practice.
  • Alongside other members of the IMT team, assist with ad-hoc requests, queries, improvements, analysis, and governance activities.

The Skills

As a member of the Investment Management Team,

  • you will be a pro-active and forward thinker with strong numeric and analytical skills,
  • as well as being well versed in packages such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • You'll need to build relationships with the team and the wider business, so being able to develop a rapport and build networks is desirable.
  • Understanding of financial, project and planning processes within a highly regulated environment, as well as a broad understanding of our clients specific gated project delivery processes and in-year investment processes are beneficial, but not essential. Training will be provided.
  • Will require ability and proven record to complete tasks to deadlines, with good attention to detail and time management skills.
  • Able to work individually and as part of a team, with strong influencing and people skills.
