Crynodeb

As an Army Service Complaints Case Manager, you will be part of a mixed civilian and military team within the Army Service Complaint Secretariat. You, and the EO Case Manager you line manage, will directly support the investigative and decision-making process for a wide variety of Army Service Complaints.

The role is challenging but also extremely rewarding as it can result in a wrong committed against a service person being rectified. It is primarily office based and requires attention to detail coupled with a desire to ensure that a soldier’s complaint is properly investigated. You will need to have the confidence to speak with military personnel of all ranks and must also possess absolute discretion. For individuals directly involved in a Service Complaint the process can become stressful and bewildering, so a compassionate nature and clarity in both written and oral communications, are absolute requirements.

People lie at the heart of the Army’s operational capability; attracting and retaining the right numbers of capable, motivated individuals to deliver Defence outputs is critical. This is dependent upon maintaining a credible and realistic offer that earns and retains the trust of people in Defence. To achieve this, all personnel must be confident that they and their families will be treated fairly, and that Service veterans and their dependants will be respected and appropriately supported.

The Army Service Complaints Secretariat is established to deliver an efficient, effective and fair process for Army personnel of all ranks to raise a grievance where they believe they have been wronged in their Service life. The Secretariat comprises of 80 full-time staff, both civilian and military, and a further 78 part-time staff, working closely together to ensure that Service Complaints are addressed fairly and without delay.

The Ministry of Defence employs over 50,000 Civil Servants. Within that, the Army Top Level Budget (TLB) employs around 7,000 MOD Civil Servants located at over 300 locations. Ours is a diverse workforce, with roles ranging from trainers, human resources, teachers, and psychologists to storekeepers, financiers, project and programme managers, and policy secretariat staff. There are many different functions and professions delivering key outputs for the Army. As such using data to aid understanding of our workforce is vital.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.
