We are offering exciting opportunities for an enthusiastic Registered Nurse with experience as a Nurse Endoscopist to join our friendly team.
Our ideal candidate is a Nurse Endoscopist that is competent and has achieved JAG certification to carry out diagnostic and therapeutic UGI and LGI endoscopy (gastroscopy and colonoscopy).
Having competence in both modalities is desirable, however applications would be gratefully received from individuals who are not able to fulfil the
full person specification. A Band 6 developmental post would be offered until achieving competence in both modalities.
Once competent in both modalities there will be expectation to contribute towards the training of trainee endoscopists (both clinical and non-clinical), after attending a JAG Train The Trainer Course.
We are fully committed to supporting the successful applicant through academic study and internal training to achieve competence, to be a safe
independent practitioner. Having a Non-Medical Prescriber qualification and studying at level 7 to provide the background to underpin clinical
practice is essential.
We have two post available. One of these positions would be considered as a developmental opportunity for the right candidate
The post holder will be required to provide 4-6 endoscopy lists per week, which may include participation in screening initiatives and cover for vacant lists. Weekend working will be part of routine rotation.
You will also be expected to develop, lead and implement nurse-led practice, as required by the service. These can include, for example, capsule endoscopy, oesophageal physiology studies, abdominal paracentesis, breath testing, IBD/dyspepsia/HPB clinics.
The possibilities for service development are vast and these will be agreed with the successful applicant to find something that both suits the service and captivates the practitioner.
