Watson Marlow Fluid Technology Solutions is an SSE PLC Group company (https://www.spiraxsarcoengineering.com/). We offer a range of fluid handling solutions across the biotech and industrial markets.

This role will focus on:

Working closely with both the WMFTS and Spriax Group EHS function, you will be the front line EHS support service at the Biopure facility. You will drive all EHS matters across the site, and coach the site teams to drive both engagement and culture.

Key accountabilities include:

  • As the EHS advisor you be a key driver in the compliance framework for all EHS statutory requirements.
  • You will be responsible for monthly reviews and updates on our C.A.R.E framework and will manage our EHS portal for incident and action management (Eco-online).
  • Provide guidance and support to the management team on 'good practice' in relation to health, safety, and environmental matters.
  • Drive a 'Just Safety Culture' supporting fairness, openness, responsibility, learning and building relationships.
  • Interpret centralised EHS Framework and Blueprint strategies and translate them locally, ensuring compliance with group standards.
  • Assist in periodic review of any legislative changes regarding EHS and manage the update of company processes, systems and documents as necessary.
  • Assist in periodical EHS & Carbon Footprint data gathering, (using supplied system) with regards to sustainability, environment and waste management.
  • To facilitate the investigation of incidents and adverse events (Learning Event Process), and to share learning from incidents across the company and the wider organization.
  • Report on health, safety, and environmental performance at local level following the analysis of data and trends in support of continual improvement in the EHS system.
  • Support the development of Safe Systems of work, Standard Work, One Point Lessons, Tool Box Talks and Process Standards for all EHS requirements.
  • Drive the 'Plan' and 'Do' phase of our ISO certifications (14001 & 45001).
  • Drive EHS audits and action response, both internally and externally, in our 'Check' and 'Act' phase (14001 & 45001.
  • To deliver risk identification, facilitate risk assessments and control strategies.
  • EHS involvement in the management of contractor's process, from pre-qualification, review of contractor documentation, contractor selection, permits to work and practical on-site management and monitoring.
  • General input to our 'Emergency Preparedness and Response' processes (involvement in regular periodical checks and inspections of: Fire, First Aid and Spill provision)


To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Previous experience in an EHS Advisor Role, manufacturing based preferable but not essential.
  • Computer literate with skills in office applications (Word/Excel/PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work under own initiative.
  • Knowledge of and management of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
  • Awareness of Lean Manufacturing Techniques desirable
  • Formal H&S qualification at level 3 (NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent)
