Summary
A key part of the product development team, carrying out the required day-to-day operations of the development team and to be integral to the creation and development of new products. Other core areas include project management, liaising with multiple departments in the business; including Sales, Technical and Production to ensure a proactive and effective product development process. Reporting to the Product Development Manager.

About the Role
As part of a team, you will be involved in a range of activities relating to reactive and pro-active product development, bringing product development briefs for in house manufactured products and brought in finished goods from concept through to launch. This role interacts widely around the business and is a fast paced mix of desk responsibility and hands on analysis and guidance through production and shelf life trials.
You'll be a great fit if:
✔ï¸You are a food technologist or have an equivalent skillset. This role may also suit a kitchen leader who has a background in menu development and trends.
✔ï¸You have a good understanding of pasteurisation / heat processes and high care food manufacture environments.
✔ï¸You are strong in both verbal and written communication skills, fluent in English language which will help in communicating with our customers and the Internal team.
âœ”ï¸ You are confident and able to work with key suppliers and customers to develop new products based on each project brief.
âœ”ï¸ You are blessed with good judgement, a sense of humour and a good understanding of how to create and inspire the use of top quality food ingredients from raw material to end user.
You won't be a great fit if:
You have not worked in the food industry as yet – a knowledge of ingredients suppliers is key to hitting the ground running in this role.
You have not had a minimum of 2 years experience in a Product Development, Process Control or QA role within Food Manufacturing.
You do not have well developed Microsoft Suite skills
You are not efficient or capable of handling multiple fast-paced administrative tasks.
What the day job looks like:
In this full-time role as a New Product Technologist, within a team of 3, you will
• Review briefs for new product development
• Responsibility for delivery of project timescales using critical paths agreement and adherence
• Ensuring all new raw materials and packaging are compliant and approved before use
• Recipe development as and when necessary, submission to taste panel or Account Manager
• Evaluation of chemical parameters and any other preservation techniques to optimise quality and shelf life
• Completing cost calculation of all recipes and submission to Account Manager
• Recipe up scale, production trials, creation of Process Sheets and Quality Attribute Sheets (QAS)
• Shelf-life evaluation
• Help, support, and liaise with QA and Technical services depts
• Stock control of all ingredients and packaging
• Update and lead where needed weekly project meetings to coordinate all departments on project stages
• Brainstorm with the development team to create product concept ideas
• Additional Ad-hoc support of Production, Technical and buying where amendments to recipes existing process’ may need to be made
• To contribute to the Health & Safety, Food Safety and Socio-Environmental/Energy Belazu values, and to help achieve the company-wide objectives that are communicated on an on-going basis

Terms
• 40 hrs/wk i.e. 7.00am-3.30pm Mon-Fri
• Probationary period 3 months
• Annual salary review (our ‘movers and shakers’ are always rewarded)
• Discretionary bonus of up to 10% of salary based on business performance, personal objectives and behaviours.
