Summary
We use a range of approaches which enable partner organisations to benefit from the UK’s world-leading expertise, understand and secure the value that sustainable infrastructure can offer, and provide UK businesses with the confidence and credibility needed to enter new markets.
These include sharing UK approaches to sustainable infrastructure development, negotiating government-to-government agreements and working together with international businesses and partner governments in third countries on major projects and programmes, to help position UK businesses effectively for long-term export opportunities.
This role is in the part of the team that focuses on opportunities.
The successful candidate will be one of three geographic leads. Specific geographic responsibilities will evolve over the coming months but together with an SEO and HEO they will work with partners in Africa, the Middle East and other agreed markets. They will also manage relationships with senior executives from UK businesses and other organisations.

- Building an understanding of the team’s commercial approaches and transaction models, its strategic priorities, your region’s market dynamics and barriers, as well as its openness and attractiveness to UK businesses.
- Leading the development and assessment of partnership opportunities in Africa, the Middle East and other key markets, using a range of approaches, and aligning, where relevant, with wider government priorities.
- Conducting market and industry engagement, and leading negotiations with partners. You will be expected to manage important relationships with senior figures from business, wider organisations and overseas officials.
- Line management of two team members, one Higher Executive Officer and one Senior Executive Officer, who will help you to deliver new opportunities, including leading on work in some of the markets you are responsible for.
- Deputising for the head of partnership opportunities in discussions with Ambassadors, High Commissioners and His Majesty’s Trade Commissioners.
- Identifying and implementing opportunities for continuous improvement, ensuring our commercial partnerships offer remains competitive globally.
- International travel is required.
