Askham Bryan College is a specialist land-based college based across the North of England with centres in York, Middlesbrough, Saltaire, Wakefield and Gateshead.

We offer a wide-ranging curriculum to our Further Education students, including Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Management, Countryside and the Environment, Engineering, Equine, Floristry, Motorsport, Outdoor Adventure Sport, Sports Development, Coaching and Fitness, Uniformed Public Services and Veterinary Nursing.

We define the values and qualities that we require from our people using the Askham Bryan College DNA. Hardwired in to what we do, our DNA strands ensure that all colleagues are committed to delivering with purpose, taking ownership, building trust and always learning.

Our staff benefits include 35 days annual leave plus bank holidays, Local Government Pension Scheme/Teachers Pension Scheme, Staff Discounts, Colleague engagement days, Cycle to Work Scheme, ABC Awards (Staff Recognition Scheme), beautiful campuses and free on-site parking (York, Middlesbrough, Gateshead).

We have an exciting opportunity for an Arborist Apprenticeship Course Manager to join our Apprenticeships Department based here at our York campus. This role will be working 37 hours per week on a permanent basis.

We are seeking an individual who will be responsible for planning and deliver high quality training to an agreed teaching caseload, delivering a range of arboriculture skills. The successful candidate will have relevant knowledge and skills alongside recent practical experience in the industry, most likely in a Arborist role.

Educated to level 3 or above in a relevant subject, candidates should be willing to work towards a teaching qualification. With excellent knowledge of industry, you will have current qualifications in most or all of the following:

  • L3 Aerial tree rescue operations
  • L3 Aerial cutting of trees using free fall techniques
  • L2 Safe use of mobile elevated work platform
  • L3 Safe use of a chainsaw from MEWP
