Summary


We welcome applications from Newly Qualified Clinical Psychologists on a Band 7 preceptorship.

We are currently looking for someone to join our Clinical Neuropsychology team in East Kent. The East Kent Team is based in Canterbury and has satellite clinics in Ashford and Ramsgate. The team is part of the Kent Clinical Neuropsychology Service, which is one of the largest neuropsychology departments in the country, providing support to patients in both inpatient and community settings.

We have a strong rehabilitation ethos, with clinical psychologists providing specialist neuropsychological assessment, cognitive rehabilitation and psychological therapy in a range of approaches.

You would be joining our community team, supporting people with acquired brain injury and long-term neurological conditions living in East Kent.

The role is mainly clinic-based but also involves home visits. There is flexibility in clinic sites. You will be providing specialist neuropsychological assessments and feedback on cognitive difficulties and management strategies.

Our work involves supporting people in their neurorehabilitation. This includes psychological support to adjust to diagnosis and symptom management. We provide psychoeducation, cognitive rehabilitation, vocational rehabilitation, and psychological therapy. We often work with families and other staff groups in order to meet the goals of the people we work with.

The role involves:
• Providing specialist neuropsychological assessment, including cognitive assessment.
• Cognitive rehabilitation.
• Vocational rehabilitation.
• Psychological therapy, frequently used approaches include, cognitive behavioural therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, narrative therapy, compassion focussed therapy, family therapy, systemic therapy and mindfulness.
• Support to carers and family.
• Consultation and training to colleagues.
• Supervision of junior colleagues.
• Providing placements for trainee clinical psychologists.
• Providing teaching on training courses.
