Summary
Job Advert
The main purpose of the role is to complete the Engineering Fitter apprenticeship standard and all associated training in order to
learn the electrical and mechanical skills involved in repairing and manufacturing rail infrastructure materials at Unipart Rail
Crewe.
The successfull candidates will be required to:
* Successfully complete all mandatory training / academic qualifications assigned to the Engineering Fitter Apprenticeship
Standard Level 3
* Successfully complete all workshop based tasks / rota moves
* Attend Apprentice Reviews as required
* Learn and use the tools and techniques of the Unipart Way in day to day role
* Work in a safe manner, taking reasonable care for the health and safety of yourself and other people at work, following
appropriate Health and Safety guidance, training and company rules and procedures as appropriate
The apprenticeship will be delivered by Cheshire College South & West, is approx 3.5-years in duration and will include:
* Level 2 practical units selected by Unipart Rail and delivered on a full-time basis at Cheshire College South & West during the
first year of apprenticeship
* BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Electrical / Electronic Engineering – to be completed on a day-release basis at Cheshire College South
& West
* Mandatory on and off the job training assigned to the Engineering Advanced Modern Apprenticeship – work based evidence
portfolio collation
* Workshop based tasks / rota moves across all areas of the Crewe Service Centre to gain skills in Repairs, Manufacture, Relays,
Projects, Hydraulics, Electronics and Instruments
* Regular apprentice reviews internally and in partnership with Cheshire College South & West
Upon successful completion, the apprentice will gain the Engineering Fitter Level 3 Apprenticeship certification and BTEC Level 3
Diploma in Electrical / Electronic Engineering certification and will be able to apply for a skilled Engineering Technician
position.
The role of the apprentice is to learn, and to ensure successful completion of Apprenticeship each apprentice is assigned a Mentor
and Trainer to guide and assist with the required training and any Continuous Improvement initiatives.
