About the role

Title – Store Detective

Pay Rate – £13.23ph

Location – Reading to include Swindon oxford Camberley area

Shift Timings – 45 hrs. Tuesday to Saturday



You will be working in M&S, a widely known retailer with various stocks ranging from food/drink, homeware and clothing. This role is largely customer service based, with the requirement being to cover the main door, meet and greet customers and offer support, as well as regular patrols and challenging the alarm. Officers are responsible for providing safety and security to both staff and visitors alike. We are looking for candidates who are confident, outgoing, and have good energy, as well as the type of officer who wants to help people and be a part of a team.

Your main responsibilities may include:

Patrolling the Retail Store Premises.
Challenge the alarm
Meet and greet at the door
Offer support to visitors
Follow ASCONE
Investigating Disturbances, as well as monitoring the entry and exit points of the retail store.
Confidently calling for help in emergencies and operating theft-detecting devices.
Effectively dealing with large crowds and building positive customer relations.


To succeed in this role, you will need the following:

SIA licence is desirable but not essential, as full SIA training can be provided for the right candidate
Be confident, outgoing, friendly, and willing to learn.
5-year checkable work/career history.
Physically fit to undertake given tasks.
Possess the ability to work under pressure.
