Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a proactive passionate nurse to work within adult acute mental health services as a band 6, Deputy Ward Manager on Oak Ward. Oak is a treatment ward based within Hafan Y Coed, we provide ongoing treatment to service users with a range of mental health disorders in an acute mental health environment including patients with highly complex mental health needs. We aim to support our service users with their recovery and collaboratively plan for safe and timely discharge from hospital.
You would need to provide excellent leadership, role modelling and clinical skills to support the ward team. We are looking for the post-holders to be enthusiastic, dedicated and flexible to the service and work closely with the multidisciplinary team made up of our ward staff, psychiatrists, junior doctors, occupational therapists, physiotherapists and members of the community mental health teams.
Main duties of the job
You will be required to act as part of the management team in the running of a busy service, providing both clinical and managerial leadership to all ward staff, and to act up in absence of ward manager.
You will be supporting band 5 staff to fulfil their role to a high standard and facilitate the development of their competence and confidence, including providing guidance and support on shift with decision making, participating in managerial and caseload supervision, and identifying training requirements and professional interests to support staff with their development.
You will also be required to work closely with the multi disciplinary team to drive patient treatment plans and to support staff with complex care planning and risk formulation.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
