Job summary

The post holder will have responsibility, with the deputy managers, for leading the management, monitoring and co-ordination of the in-house portering team and will be an on-site expert in portering matters proving support to front line staff in ED and across the Trust.

The post holder will be an experienced portering professional who will act as a competent person for the Trust by advising and monitoring of portering incidents.

The role meets the need to provide day to day operational management support to the General Manager and to the staff within the Portering Department with the aim of ensuring that from a non-clinical perspective the specialty is running effectively and efficiently. The post holder is also part of a wider team within the Facilities Department.

  • Facilities Management qualification Degree or equivalent in relevant field

Desirable

  • Masters degree in relevant area A/I

Experience

Essential

  • 2 years experience of working in NHS/5 years experience in a relevant post, with a proven track record of operational management including staff and financial management.
  • Experience of project management/ clinical information systems/

Desirable

  • Working in customer facing service environment within the NHS

Knowledge

Essential

  • Competent in MS word, Excel and Access
  • Ability to develop and implement business policies for own area. Able to interpret complex information in order to act upon and disseminate to others.
  • Have an understanding of the NHS complaints procedures.
  • Previous experience of change management

  • Excellent interpersonal, facilitation and communication skills. Ability to work autonomously and within teams. Ability to prioritise workload. Good presentation skills
