Job summary

We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic midwife with skills in teaching to be part of our education team. S/he will work as part of the team to facilitate the development of required clinical skills by midwives to provide quality, evidence-based, woman-centred care in line with local guidelines and recommendations from national advisory bodies. You will work in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to lead and facilitate a programme of education for fetal monitoring and GAP/GROW and provide clinical leadership and advice to staff to improve staff competence and clinical outcomes.

We provide Maternity Services to approximately 5000 women a year and accommodate our women in very modern up to date facilitates. We have a level 3 Neonatal unit situated within the hospital as well as excellent facilities in Fetal Medicine

Main duties of the job

To provide a high standard of midwifery care at all times, working within a multi- disciplinary team to facilitate the development of required clinical skills to midwives. Support and work with the Lead Obstetrician, Consultant Midwife for High Risk Pregnancy, the Matron for Labour Ward, Education team and Midwives in developing a programme of education for cardiotocography interpretation to achieve better birth outcomes.

Support / assist in the development of advanced and new roles aimed at improving patient care within the maternity unit. Create good learning opportunities and environments in the clinical practice environment and maintain communication networks with other clinical skills facilitators.

Essential

  • Registered Midwife
  • Mentorship Module or Equivalent
  • First Class Degree or evidence of working towards.
  • Expert midwifery knowledge.

Desirable

  • PROMPT Course or Equivalent
  • Advanced Life Support

  • Master's Degree.
