Phlebotomist

Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a qualified and experienced Phlebotomist to work across Durham East PCN GP practices.

The successful candidates will have experience of taking blood within a Primary Care setting. It is important that the post holder is able to remain calm under pressure, is efficient and organised.

The post holder will have SystmOne clinical system experience and knowledge of recording information in the Clinical system.

The roles will involve working across Durham East's 5 GP practices and access to own transport is essential.

Main duties of the job

To undertake the delivery of Phlebotomy service in General Practice, working with the doctors and nursing team to bring medical services to the patients.

To ensure correct equipment is used and kept clean to prescribed guidelines for infection control protection.

Collection of blood samples in accordance with training and procedures

Record patient data in the clinical system

Ensure samples are labelled correctly and entered on ICE.

Maintain patient confidentiality and check patient demographics

Ensure enough consumables are available ahead of a clinic

Effectively manage their own time and workload

Liaise with clinicians over any concerns

About us

This role will be hosted with Central Durham GP Federation which will provide access to the NEST Pension Scheme.

Day to day the postholder will be working in Durham East Primary Care Network Practices.

Durham East Primary Care Network is an NHS Collaboration between 5 GP Practices - Belmont & Sherburn Medical Group, Bowburn Medical Centre, Cheveley Park Medical Centre, Coxhoe Medical Practice and West Rainton Surgery.
