Job summary

We are looking to recruit a highly motivated salaried GP to join our growing, friendly, forward-thinking team.

The post is for 4-8 sessions a week, with the option of a job share. You will be based at one of our practice sites in the Meir and Longton areas of Stoke on Trent.

You will be working in a positive environment alongside our very experienced team of clinical, managerial, administrative and reception staff, as well as the Primary Care Network Additional Roles staff.

We are a high achiever in QOF/QIF, are a research accredited practice and have a CQC rating of Good.

We are a teaching and training practice in conjunction with West Midlands Deanery and Keel University.

Main duties of the job

We aim to deliver the highest standard of clinical care to our patient population. The post-holder/s will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within Primary Care, undertaking a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone/video consultations, online consultations, home visits, dealing with queries, onward referrals, paperwork and reports, contribution to QOF/QIF and all other enhanced services.

Job description

Job responsibilities

  • The post-holder will make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties including telephone triage, surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home if required, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion
  • Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation
  • Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems
  • In consultation with patients and in line with current Practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health
  • Providing counselling and health education
  • Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards
  • Participation in QOF/QIF and other national & local enhanced services and complete delegated areas
  • Quality Improvement audit and presenting the findings
  • Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible)
  • Prescribing in accordance with the Practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate
  • Participate in appraisal and revalidation processes
  • Support the training of medical students
  • Attendance at regular clinical governance meetings
  • Adhere to practice policies
  • Maintain statutory and mandatory training and CPD
