Job summary
St Teresas Hospice,
Darlington is seeking Registered Nurses to join our In Patient Unit team. If you are passionate about palliative care
and want to be part of a team that makes a real difference within the
community, then this could be the perfect opportunity for you.
The successful
candidate will be based on the Inpatient Unit but work across all Hospice
services as required. Both the IPU and Community Hospice is open 7 days per
week. 25 hours/2 shifts per
week. Usual working pattern: 12.5 hour full day and night shifts on a rota,
including weekdays and weekends - staff must be flexible to the needs of the
unit.
St Teresas Hospice
Band 5 per annum pro rata, depending on experience, plus
enhanced rates for unsociable hours. Please note: pay rate advertised is based on 2023-2024 pay scale. The 2024-2025 pay scale is yet to be announced and increased pay range will be confirmed.
NHS pension available for existing
members; other pension schemes available for non-NHS scheme members.
IPU
Rota:
12.5hr full day and night shifts: 07:30-20:00, and 19:30-08:00
Successful applicants are required to provide an enhanced disclosure with a check of the adult barred list. Disclosure expense will be met by St Teresas Hospice. All posts are subject to a six-month probationary period.
Main duties of the job
Our Hospice Staff Nurses provide high quality
holistic nursing care to palliative patients on the Inpatient Unit, and at home
via our Community services, and create appropriate plans of care to enable and
recognise individual wishes and preferences.
Essential qualifications and skills include:

NMC
registration as a first level Registered Nurse (General/Adult Nursing)

Understanding
of the Hospice setting and ethos

Good
clinical skills, a passion for delivering high-quality patient care, and a
strong interest in palliative care

Passion
for the ethos of the hospice and demonstrable interest and enthusiasm for the
vision of the organisation

Commitment
to learning and undertaking ongoing CPD
