Job summary

Digital Services is looking for an experienced manager to join the Senior leadership team with responsibility for the Technology Services Domain within the department. We are looking for someone with leadership & management skills & experience at a minimum of Band 8a level or equivalent, as well as knowledge of large-scale Infrastructure, Services, Systems and Telephony. This is a development opportunity for six months and may be reviewed at the end of that period.

Main duties of the job

  • Working as the Trust's Head of Technology Services, this post will be lead the Infrastructure, Services, Systems and Telephony for the organisation
  • The role has responsibility for the provision of quality Digital Services infrastructure and IT systems at an Enterprise/Service Provider level, whilst remaining responsive to the current and future functions of the organisation. The post holder will have responsibility for managing the staff within the IT function to deliver and maintain high performing expert teams capable of supporting all the Digital requirements of the Trust.
  • The post holder will take the lead on all matters related to IT, including the design and delivery of the strategic direction for technology supporting the Trust in the delivery of its strategy. This post will be the Trust's technology lead and will provide expert professional advice on technology matters.
  • The post holder will be responsible for 3 key departments: Service Infrastructure, IT Operations and Network/Telephony.

Qualifications and Training

Essential

  • Educated to Degree level or equivalent experience, preferably with a technical focus.
  • Master's level qualification or equivalent demonstrable experience at a senior level

Desirable

  • Relevant ICT qualifications (CCIE / MCSE, PRINCE2, ITIL practitioner)

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Information Technology specialist with strong technical skills, with an up-to-date in-depth knowledge of enterprise architecture
  • Full understanding of Industry best practice methodologies for service delivery, infrastructure and security.
  • Departmental manager familiar with line managing staff and dealing with issues
  • Understanding the NHS modernisation agenda and appreciation of the national information strategy
  • Understanding NHS Data Security and Protection Toolkit (DSPT), particularly in regard to IT security
  • Ability to translate local and national requirements into an information plan
  • Expert understanding of mainstream enterprise technologies with knowledge/experience of deployment/operation within a large complex organisation
  • Significant expertise in staff management, coaching, team building and change Management
  • Strong technical ability built up from managing multiple technologies
  • Good understanding of managing highly available mission critical systems
  • Excellent communications skills, with the ability to understand and interpret customer requirements and deliver the correct level of information dependent upon the audience
