Job summary

The continence service provides care and support to adults and children within NEL who have a bladder or bowel problem. They liaise closely with community nursing colleagues, care home staff and GPs to ensure appropriate care is delivered. The Continence Service also provides education to other healthcare professionals to enable a high standard of clinical care to be delivered across disciplines within Care Plus Group.

Main duties of the job

Job title: Continence Staff Nurse

Department: Continence Team

Base: Based at Val Waterhouse, but may be required to work at any location within North East Lincolnshire

Hours: 24 hours. Permanent

Salary: Range £28,184-£32,676 pro rata per annum

The Bladder and Bowel service offers specialist advice, support and treatment to children, young people and adults with complex continence problems providing individual specialised continence assessments within the community and residential sectors living within the Nort East Lincolnshire area.

The post holder will:

Independently manage a caseload and work in conjunction with other members of the team, Community Nursing Colleagues, GPs, and care home staff to provide skilled nursing intervention enabling patients to be cured or improve their incontinence.

To lead continence care within the care home setting by promoting individualised continence care

Ensure reassessments are undertaken appropriately and have accurate supporting paperwork/care plan.

To provide specialist advice and support to other healthcare professionals with regards to continence and catheter issues.

To undertake and successfully complete all training within the competencies that are relevant to the care of patients.
