Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Psychologist who is enthusiastic about applying their skills in a Community Learning Disability Service. Consideration for this post includes both experienced and newly qualified Psychologists. You will be supported to develop in/or into an 8a post through achieving relevant competencies e.g. in supervision, leadership, audit/research/presentation.

You will be a HCPC-registered Clinical Psychologist who will offer a psychological service for adults with learning disabilities who have specialist health needs and work closely with their families and carers. You will be working in the East and Southampton Community Learning Disability Service, working across bases in Fareham and Southampton City. Services provided will include specialist psychological assessment, intervention, and consultation on clients' psychological care to a wide range of stakeholders. You will be able to work with a diverse, adult client group with wider MDT working together to produce the best outcomes for service-users. We have a strong interest in Trauma Informed Care and Reflective Practice.

Supervision and CPD are high priorities for the Team. The service has a commitment to Clinical Psychology Training and has close links with the University of Southampton Doctoral training programme.

A permanent, 0.8WTE position is available however full or part time working will be considered for the right applicant. Please specify your preference in your statement.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder is a member of the multi-professional team. As a registered clinician, with a good level of clinical experience and post-qualification training, the post-holder will provide expertise across the Community Learning Disability Service.

Dependent on banding and experience, working with the senior management team, clinical staff to take a direct delivery of the range of psychological consultations, assessments, and interventions in line with the current evidence base and best practice. To ensure the appropriate delivery of assessment, interventions and outcomes for people and their families and carers who require the Community Learning Disability services within Southampton and East Hampshire. They will contribute to the ongoing quality and governance of both clinical psychology and broader service provision within the Locality Community Learning Disability Service.

The final combination of Southern Health and Solent Trusts is anticipated to occur in July 2024, when the new organisation will be formed.
