Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Healthcare assistant to join our well established and high performing team.Candidates should have primary care experience and be able to meet the majority of the responsibilities included in the job description.

Candidates should be willing to work in a developing role, be enthusiastic, empathetic, have flexibility in their approach and the ability to work as part of our friendly team. Main duties of the job

Responsibilities include

Patient health checks and clinical reviews, including but not limited to:

New patient health checks

NHS health Checks

Well woman & Well Man checks

Geriatric reviews

INR testing (including housebound provisions)

Learning Disability Checks

Controlled Chronic Disease reviews

ECG recording

Phlebotomy (including housebound provision)

Chaperoning duties

BP monitoring including hypertension reviews and 24 hour BP

Urinalysis

B12 and flu injections

Dressing of wounds including suture and clip removal

Weight monitoring

Provide lifestyle advice to patients making any necessary referrals within the practice

Helping to raise awareness of health and well-being and how it can be promoted

Restocking/maintenance of equipment

Restocking of clinical areas and consulting rooms including clearing

Processing and management of own laboratory samples

Fridge monitoring and recording

Surgical equipment and vaccine re-stocking and stock rotation

Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions including assisting GP/Nurse during the performance of minor operations, coil insertions and implants

Emergency equipment and doctors box monitoring, calibration and ordering

Job responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities:

Assisting with the collection of data on needs related to health and well-being (appropriate readcoding including templates)

Ensure specimens are labelled and bagged ready for collection with the necessary paperwork completed

Emergency equipment and doctors box (emerg meds) monitoring, calibration and ordering

Ensures awareness of statutory and local clinical protection procedures, including systems of referral. Ability to recognise signs and symptoms of child and adult abuse.

Able to recognise and manage anaphylaxis according to current UK guidelines.

Able to perform Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation according to current UK guidelines.

Ability to obtain and document informed consent (either verbal or written).

Reporting of significant events and where necessary, attend meeting

Administration support such as bowel screening / smear screening / review recalling where required
