The Environment Agency Pension Fund (EAPF) is an open defined benefit scheme, which is part of the Local Government Pension Scheme. We manage around £4.5 billion of assets for our 40,000 members.

We are looking for someone to provide expert advice and to support the Pensions Manager in the interpretation of new pensions legislative requirements and statutory data improvements, so that we meet our current and future regulatory requirements.

You will complement our Administration & Communications team with focus on managing legislative requirements and outputs from our Third-Party Pensions Administrator (TPA), Capita and manage and integrate these requirements with the Pension Fund.

You will be responsible for the Scheme Events work stream and provide oversight on important regulatory projects that includes the McCloud remedy and Pensions Dashboard, all underpinned by a data improvement plan.

Working closely with the Pensions Administration Manager and Pensions Engagement Specialist, you will issue annual pension statements to active and deferred members and pension saving statements in a timely fashion as well as provide direct support to members on pensions tax rules.

Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be asked to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training will be available to support you with your incident role.
The Pensions Team sits in Strategy, Transformation and Assurance which reports into the Environment Agency's Chief Executive.
We are currently a team of 13 based in Bristol city centre, working on Finance, Investments, Administration and Governance. We are a friendly team, committed to delivering a great Pension Fund. We operate flexible working arrangements.
The work will involve some travel to London and Darlington.
You will have proven experience of the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) preferably demonstrating a level of seniority and understanding of LGPS regulations and pensions administration. You will be able to explain complex pensions issues in an accessible and understandable way, both to members and Scheme employers.

You will need to understand and deliver new legislative requirements that includes the McCloud remedy and develop our data improvement plan in readiness for Pensions Dashboard.

The experience of working with multiple stakeholders and Third-Party providers is advantageous as is the ability to work is a close-knit team and the ability to use your own initiative and work autonomously.

You should have strong analytical, written and communication skills as you will be writing Board reports regularly.
The base location for this role is Bristol Horizon House and you will be expected to attend the office for team meetings once a month and we welcome flexible working patterns for all our vacancies.
