We are pleased to advertise two new whole-time posts (12-month duration) for a fellowship in Diagnostic Neuroradiology at North Bristol NHS Trust. The successful candidates will join the team of 8 Diagnostic Neuroradiology Consultants providing neuroimaging for both adult and paediatric patients.

In addition to tertiary neuroimaging, the DNR team at NBT supports multiple adult and paediatric local and regional MDTs, allowing the post-holder to become proficient in Neuroradiology, but also providing plenty of opportunity to develop a particular subspecialist interest.

North Bristol NHS Trust also provides a comprehensive 24/7 stroke service. The post-holders are also expected to provide cover for acute neuroimaging both in and out-of-hours under the supervision of the consultant body.

Main duties of the job

Applicants are required to be on the Specialist Register for Clinical Radiology, have CCT in Clinical Radiology or be within six months of obtaining it by the interview date. Full Registration with the GMC is essential.

The candidate will need to have experience in all forms of general diagnostic neuroimaging. Duties will include taking a shared responsibility for the day to day running of the neuroradiology department and supporting the radiographers and radiology trainees. The candidate will receive training in all aspects of adult and paediatric tertiary neuroimaging, including - but not limited to, neuro-oncology, skull base, paediatric, spine, neuroinflammatory and epilepsy with local and regional MDTs in all these areas.

The candidate will contribute to general work of department including the acute / trauma service and thus being proficient in general emergency and trauma neuroimaging for daytime and on call is a requirement. Consultant support will be provided for the tertiary/specialist elements of the on call service.

The current fellowship aims to provide the successful candidate with an excellent educational environment to develop their neuroimaging skills and allow them to take a consultant post in a tertiary neuroscience centre

About us

The post will be based at North Bristol NHS Trust (NBT) Southmead Hospital and University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW) Bristol Children's Hospital. The successful applicants will join the DNR team which is integrated in a friendly and welcoming radiology department consisting of 50 consultants. The department provides training for over 20 radiology SpRs, Neuroradiology and Interventional Radiology fellows with plenty of teaching opportunities.

This is an excellent opportunity for those interested in pursuing a career in tertiary Neuroradiology and will allow the successful candidates to apply for a consultant role at a tertiary neurosciences centre in the future.
