Band 7 Senior Biomedical Scientist in Blood Transfusion Medicine based at St Mary's Hospital.
A modernised clinical pathology service, proud to deliver excellence for users, patients and staff.
North West London Pathology (NWLP) is a partnership between Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, Chelsea & Westminster NHS Trust and The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Trust. The partnership represents a model for delivering pathology testing in a modern, efficient operation that manages 25 million tests per year. Our services are delivered at seven hospital sites across North West London.
An opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic band 7 Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered Senior Biomedical Scientist to join our friendly and dedicated Haematology and Blood Transfusion team, within Blood Sciences, at St Mary's Hospital.
Main duties of the job
As a Band 7 Senior Biomedical Scientist in Blood Transfusion Medicine you will help manage the routine and specialist services comprising Blood Transfusion at SMH.
The Departments of Haematology and Blood Transfusion offer the opportunity to work in a well-equipped, open plan, spacious and modern environment with a high level of automation. In blood transfusion you will be working with BioRad Blood Grouping analysers although the department is currently progressing through a tender process.
You will also have the opportunity to be trained in other areas of the department including haematology, haemostasis and morphology, especially where these relate to transfusion. St Mary's Hospital is one of London's major trauma centres, including paediatric major trauma, and the blood sciences department is also a hub for specialist cases including complex obstetric, vascular, haemoglobinopathy and bone marrow transplant transfusion.
These specialist services afford staff the opportunity to work in a highly active environment and gain exposure to complex and interesting cases.
