NHS Foundation Trust is looking to recruit a dynamic and passionate
paediatrician for the post of Specialty
Doctor in Community Child Health.
This post will be based in our
exciting, friendly and expanding department delivering healthcare for children
and young people across the area of South Tyneside and Sunderland. The focus of the post is in Cared
for Health and Adoption Medical Advisory services.
The community paediatric department provides population
based services across South Tyneside and Sunderland and works very closely with
our multidisciplinary teams, special schools and health centres helping to
bring services to the community as well as hospital based services. Our
community child health and disability teams run a wide range of comprehensive
services including child development, neurodisability, cared for and vulnerable
children, adoption and fostering, safeguarding.
The department has a strong commitment to service
development and teaching and applicants with shared enthusiasm for these areas

Main duties of the job
Overall
responsibilities include contributing to the co-ordination and delivery of the
operational aspects of the service with specific responsibilities within the
Cared for Health assessment service and Medical Adoption. It is envisaged that
the successful candidate will also undertake a lead role within the community
child health service. As part of development support, other responsibilities
could include general paediatric/neurodisability outpatient contribution.
The post-holder will contribute fully to national, local
and regional audits (including organisational), where relevant, to ensure that
the delivery of community child health care is aligned to best practice.
A standard job plan is based on 10 programmed activities
(PAs) 9 of which are clinical PAs and 1.0 of which are supporting PAs. Less
than full time working is welcomed.
Final job plans will be agreed in discussion between the
successful candidates and the Clinical Director and will be subject to Annual
Review.
