Job summary
Working collaboratively with the Director of Integrated Education, Director of Medical Education, the site DMEs and the Head of Medical Education and the Lead for Postgraduate Medical Education, the post holder acts as the Lead for Undergraduate and Foundation Medical Education across all hospital sites to ensure that all national, regional and local policies and procedures affecting undergraduate and foundation medical education are complied with, the NHS Educational Contract and medical school SLAs are delivered and the required local, regional and national educational standards met.
Main duties of the job
Responsibility for ensuring the effective delivery of undergraduate and foundation medical education and training across the Trust in accordance with the NHS England KSS Education Contract (EC) and medical school SLAs. This includes approx. 270 foundation trainee placements for foundation doctors in training (F1/F2/academic) as well as undergraduate placements across all sites for Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 and F0 medical students. Required to meet regulatory compliance and Trust standards in ensuring the effective delivery, evaluation, and quality assurance of a portfolio of high-quality medical education and training for UHSx foundation doctors and undergraduate medical students. The postholder also has medical education management oversight of the academic trainees within UHSx.
The post holder has management responsibility for other senior operational managers within the medical education department. The post-holder will work closely with the Lead for Postgraduate Education to ensure the Medical Education team has a robust workforce plan and manage the workforce to ensure high levels of motivation and productivity by maximising multi-disciplinary teamwork and supported devolution of responsibility to front line staff. This will help support the development of effective cross-site and Trust wide communication and teamwork. The post holder will work closely with colleagues within the Integrated Education Division and within Brighton and Sussex Medical School.
