Job summary

Hywel Dda University Health Board is looking for an enthusiastic, experienced, and ambitious General Practitioner to join the team of senior medical leaders in the role of Clinical Director - Primary Care & Community Services for Carmarthenshire.

Supporting the Deputy Medical Director - Primary Care and Community Services, the successful post holder will carry out responsibilities associated with Primary Care & Community including clinical governance and the provision of services.

Main duties of the job

Main duties of the role will include :

  • leading on clinical governance & overseeing the quality and safety of managed practices
  • managing Primary Care investigations and concerns
  • attending local and national meetings relating to Primary Care and the interface between primary and secondary care
  • providing advice and support relating to Primary Care and Community matters
  • working with key stakeholders including the Executive Team and Senior Clinicians, to develop and deliver Primary Care and Community Services
  • dealing with contracting issues, to ensure that clinical services can be delivered effectively and efficiently

48 general practices (six of which are managed practices), 47 dental practices (including three orthodontic), 99 community pharmacies, 44 general ophthalmic practices (43 providing Eye Health Examination Wales and 34 low vision services) and 17 domiciliary only providers and 11 health centres;

Numerous locations providing mental health and learning disabilities services;

Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales.

Experience

  • Proven record of management at a senior level
